How to read this table
- Mandatory is the fee for a new licence for the smallest standard HMO (typically up to 5 occupants, rooms or units), before discounts. Many councils charge more for larger HMOs, and several split the fee into two payments. The council page has the detail.
- Additional and selectivefees apply only where the council runs those schemes, often in designated areas. A dash means the council has no such scheme in force. “See council” means it runs one but publishes no single figure we can confirm.
- Not published means the council charges per room, per letting or per year, or does not state one fee. We never estimate a total.
- The Checkeddate is when we last confirmed the fee against the council’s own page. Councils change fees, usually each April, so always confirm with the council before applying.
